Microsoft's next gaming console is due this Fall. While Sony has revealed much about its next generation PlayStation 4 Microsoft has remained mum.
That hasn't stopped speculation on what the next console will or will not do. Even the hint that Microsoft's next console will need to be connected to the internet has generated serious backlash and criticism from gamers. It's starting to look like the next Xbox is just one big mistake waiting to happen.
Here are the top three mistakes that Microsoft is inching toward with the next Xbox:
Augmented Reality Could Be Coming: Not very long ago a leaked document related to Kinect 2.0 detailed how augmented reality could be part of the next generation of Kinect technology. While it's unclear if the AR technology information is true, if it is then it could be a disappointment. AR gaming has yet to find mass popularity and traditional platforms don’t really support the technology.
An Always-Online Console: This is the rumor that has drawn the most ire from the gaming community. Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny the reports of the next Xbox actually needing an internet connection to play games. If the rumor turns out to be true it could be a terrible thing for all those who can’t afford or don’t have access to a lightning fast internet.
One Game Per Console: While Sony has already made it pretty clear that it will allow PS4 games to be played on multiple consoles, there is a rumor that the next Xbox could go in the opposite direction. The idea that gamers won’t be able to play used games on a different Xbox console without first paying a fee is a huge disappointment.
The next Xbox has yet to be announced. There's still time for Microsoft to not implement these bad ideas.
