The long awaited sci-fi horror game, "Routine", is finally coming out with shades of the original Alien. Since the game will be available to Steam in March 2017, the gamemakers recently released a new trailer.
The developers of "Routine" originally proposed to release the game in 2013 but didn't happen as planned. "Making a good game for me is more important than a hard-set deadline. So we will keep it loose for now," Aaron Foster of Lunar Software told The Verge in 2012.
The game's foundation stays the same with players discovering a spooky abandoned base with a chunky, ‘80s, retro futuristic vibe but few changes have been applied to the design. "On the plus side this gave us two very different endings that take you to completely different areas of the moon base and the reward for progression feels much stronger now," Foster added.
There are numerous reasons why the game's release has been prolonged according to Foster. "Our general inexperience with a project of this magnitude is a good place to start. But honestly the game design has been iterated on many times over the years, it's a slow process that has some benefits, but Routine could have really benefited a lot with more time in pre-production," he said.
"It's been a while since our last update back in December, and for that we can only apologise. Our heads are deep in development and we wanted to make sure that with our next update, we could give you guys something substantial. So with that said, we are super happy to announce that Routine finally has a release date (release window to be more exact)," Lunar Software wrote in its website.
"Routine" is a First Person Horror Exploration game set on an abandoned Moon Base. "The game is in a good place now and this feels like the home stretch," said Foster.
