‘FIFA 14’ is coming this Fall to the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 from developer EA Sports. EA recently laid out the new features coming to the game.
While there are a slew of changes to the game the most important is the arrival of what the developer is calling Pure Shot technology. Also worth noting is the change to how players trap the ball after receving a pass.
Pure Shot simulates the different ways of striking the ball such as being rushed, off-balance or perfectly set-up. A new ball physics system called Real Ball Physics will attempt to make the trajectory of the ball behave how it would in a real life game.
The technology will also understand the different phases a player goes through before taking the final shot and will adjust the player’s stride and pace accordingly.
“The combination of Pure Shot and Real Ball Physics will open the door for the most rewarding and varied shot selection in the FIFA franchise to date,” the official site states without a hint hyperbole.
Protect The Ball, on the other hand, is a new gameplay feature that will let players dictate the tempo of a game. The feature is expected allow players to see off and block opponents from the ball while running at any speed their avatar is capable of.
“Protect the Ball also gives players the ability to fight for position prior to receiving the ball,” the company adds. “With the ball at their feet, players will be able to step into the opposition and hold them off to maintain possession and make a pass.”
The game’s Career Mode will now sport a Global Scouting Network and live updates on scouted players throughout the season.
