November has finally arrived and it means a big bang for the gaming world due to imminent arrival of Sony PlayStation 4 Pro. It might not possess the much-coveted Blu-ray 4K but what Sony calls Forward Compatibility 4K is enough reason for gamers to toy with the idea of "upgrading."
It is just exactly 1 week to go before PlayStation 4 Pro invade the shelves on Nov 10 but a lot drools at the idea of enhanced graphics. After all, eye candy is the barometer of videogame experience. This made 4K the centerpiece of all articles ever written about PS4 Pro. A selling point for Sony to emerge as the most-anticipated gaming console of this generation, zooming past Project Scorpio and Nintendo Switch.
So what is exactly under the hood of PlayStation 4 Pro and what could it offer to convince gamers to switch from reliable plain PS4? As mentioned, PS4 Pro is more suited for graphics hog titles, PC Advisor said. Not only 4K quality video will run seamlessly on this new console but HDR as well. Remember that this reason alone pushed services like Netflix and YouTube to develop 4K-specific apps to compliment PS4 Pro.
Game titles from PS4 are all compatible with PlayStation 4 Pro so there is no need to worry about lack of game array too. However, keep in mind that most of these titles are not running at 4K so what will happen is upscale 4K. This is possible with 2 chips running inside the console. Meaning, a single chip will decode PS4 games to make them work, but two chips will run simultaneously if the game is PS4 Pro-specific.
Meanwhile, Game Spot reported that hyping and adverts are not sufficient to make the $400 PlayStation 4 Pro edge against its predecessor PS4. In fact, there were close to 4 million PS4 units sold from July to Sept this year alone, bringing a total of 47 million units sold since conception. In the end, it boils down to the argument that Sony themselves said before that PS4 Pro is not meant to replace PS4 but to co-exist beside it.
