John Cena has taken a hiatus once again has he attends to his off-ring commitments. The former WWE champion is busy filming the second season of "American Grit" and has been limited to appearing in select live events.
The next big pay-per-view is WWE Survivor Series where Cena would have been a hands-down choice to lead one of the teams being assembled by Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he will get the chance unless something dramatic happens in the coming weeks, Wrestlingnews.co reported.
WWE SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan is expected to announce the teams on the November 1 edition of the show. The bearded one will make the announcement on Miz TV. Among the WWE stars already seeded include tag team champions Rhyno and Heath Slater and the Hype Bros for the 10-on-10 traditional Survivor Series Tag Team elimination match.
Nikki Bella will captain the women’s elimination match with his crew likely known tonight. Perhaps the most important of the mix is the 5 stars what will represent SmackDown.
John Cena has been mentioned as well as AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose. Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and Baron Corbin have also been teased so the representatives of team Blue is anyone’s guess, WWE.com reported.
With an array of stars available to lead team SmackDown, Cena may not be immediately needed when the pay-per-view takes place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto later this month. While the Cenation leader is still being advertised for Survivor Series, an update could be made soon.
If not Cena, the logical choice would be to have Dean Ambrose or even AJ Styles. But can these two rivals compete on the same page? The Miz could make a case for himself as well, considering the announcement would be made on his TV segment.
