Canon EOS-M5 News & Update: Company Developing New Full Frame Mirrorless Camera; Arriving 2017?

Following the release of the Canon EOS-M5 this year, it seems that the camera manufacturer is developing new full frame mirrorless camera. The development is to create a competition for Sony's full frame A7 series, which seems to be currently getting the chunk of the market.

According to The Phoblographer, there are no concrete details on Canon's plans for the new full frame mirrorless camera. However, it seems that photographers and users are awaiting news towards the holiday season, despite the upcoming release of the Canon EOS M5.

The Canon EOS-M5 is the brand's first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, featuring 22.3 x 14.9 mm sensor and 24.2MP Dual Pixel CMOS, which is found in the Canon 80D as well. This provides amazing autofocus speed and tracking performance. It also includes image stabilization thanks to its 5-axis compensation on its hybrid stabilization functionalities, as per CNet.

The Canon EOS-M5 seems to position itself as a major competitor in the mirrorless camera arena, but the camera manufacturer may still be looking to developing new full frame mirrorless camera. This may arrive in 2017, given that the Canon EOS-M5 is arriving this December.

The upcoming Canon EOS-M5 also features a 49-point phase-detection functionality, with a shutter speed of 1/4,000 to 30 secs; bulb; 1/200 sec x-sync. Photographers and videographers can also record video in 1080/60p, 30p, 24p. As for wireless connections, the Canon EOS-M5 is equipped with Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth. Whether or not Canon has plans of developing new full frame mirrorless camera following the Canon EOS-M5 remains to be seen.
