Fans couldn't be more excited as "Prison Break" Season 5 officially returns to Fox nearly eight years after its fourth season finale. The new season will find Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) alive and well, albeit jailed in a Yemen prison by the ISIS, as his brother Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) works to bust him out of the jail.
However, circulating reports speculate that Lincoln will die in "Prison Break" Season 5, while Michael and his estranged wife Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) reunite in the most heartbreaking way possible. What does that mean for the Scofield brothers?
Lincoln to die in 'Prison Break' Season 5
The official trailer for "Prison Break" Season 5 launched a few months ago, showing Michael and Lincoln working together to bust him out of Yemeni jail. Apparently, Michael was imprisoned by terrorist group ISIS, which means that, even if he manages to break out of jail, he'd still be in big trouble. The break out seems to involve heavy action as Michael and Lincoln are shown engaging in fights against prisoners and guards, as the escape plot seems to involve the collapse of government.
Given this high level of danger, it's been speculated that Lincoln will have to sacrifice himself to save his brother in "Prison Break" Season 5. This theory is further bolstered by a recent tweet from the official "Prison Break" writers' account, where they said a scene in "Prison Break" Season 5 Episode 8 will make them "weep together."
Sara and Michael's reunion
Another likely theory is that Sara and Michael will be reuniting under heartbreaking circumstances in "Prison Break" Season 5. It may be recalled that Michael doesn't know that he and Sara have a son, so it's possible that their reunion will largely be eclipsed by that discovery as Michael catches up with the years he'd missed as a father.
Whichever of the two, "Prison Break" Season 5 is bound to be breathtaking as the first four seasons. The FOX action series will return on 2017.
