Microsoft Surface: Surface Studio's 'Zero Gravity' Hinges, 35-Watt 'T' Series Chip; Ready To Beat All-One-One HP Envy 27 PC?

Microsoft Surface has added a new product in the lineup - the Surface Studio, the all-in-one computer specially designed for artists and others in the creative profession. Experts believe that the new product could be the biggest threat against other all-in-one devices like the HP Eny 27 which is reported to be among the best in the market today.

The two computers come with models that have an Intel Core i5 or i7 processors. However, it is not clear what type of Microsoft Surface Studio models will come with. Nevertheless, the desktops are expected to ship with a 95-watt or 65-watt variants. On the other hand, the Envy 27 has 35-watt "T" series chip.

Microsoft Surface Studio and the HP Envy 27 begin at 8GB of RAM, although the former maxes out at 32GB, which is double the maximum 16GB of the Envy. As for the graphical power, the Studio is reported to edge the Envy given its lower-tier option of GeForce 965M - the graphics card believed to be better than Envy's GeForce 950M. This means that the Microsoft all-in-one computer has a bit more edge than the Envy, although the differences are considered not that big.

The biggest difference between the Microsoft Surface Studio and the HP Envy 27 could be the pricing. The Studio is priced at $3,000 up to $4,200, while Envy costs $1,300 to $1,700. The Envy model is available now, while the Surface Studio begins pre-order and scheduled for release on Dec. 15. Given that, the Surface Studio appears to be a more powerful computer than the Envy, but with an expensive price tag, Digital Trends reported.

Microsoft Surface Studio is a bold device aimed at winning more creatives over to the Windows way of life. The all-in-one PC's "zero gravity" hinges act as an ordinary monitor or could be folded down into a Studio mode to become a drawing and writing surface.

A 10-point multitouch or display enables interaction with a Surface Pen, including the new accessory Surface Dial, a small metal puck which can be put against the screen and be rotated. The display functions at an ultrahigh resolution of 4,500 x 3,000 and be switched between a wide DCI-P3 color gamut and sRGB through a button, ENGADGET reported.
