On Halloween's eve, October 30, 2016, Reddit user trivial_sublime, who is currently based in Myanmar, posted the issue of EA Games Origin being unavailable in Myanmar:
In a Reddit post titled EA Games and Origin quietly bans an entire country - or, why you shouldn't take digital distribution for granted, he aired out his concern about EA Games Origin being unavailable in Myanmar.
He stated that one of the possible reasons for this is EA Games' supposed compliance with US sanctions against Myanmar. In a supposed connection with EA Games Origin being unavailable in Myanmar, it is good to note that the US has imposed sanctions in Myanmar since the 1990's when it pulled the US ambassador out of the said country following the military's refusal to cede power to a civilian government. These sanctions were slowly eased in some forms when the military junta began taking steps in returning control to the civilian government. Washington on September 14, 2016 has fully lifted its sanctions program to Myanmar following President Barack Obama and Myanmar's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
