The growing interest of Sony to make "Mulan" live-action movie of their own most probably began when an impressive number of "Mulan" supporters voiced out their wishes to not have another white-washed movie.
'Mulan' Live-Action Movie: Petition To Stick To The Plot
Aside from petitioning for Disney to cast Asian actors and actresses, the said petition also clamors for Disney to stick to the original plot. There were reported leaks for the upcoming "Mulan" live-action movie for 2018 and the fans were absolutely appalled to find out the alleged major plot change.
The fans were irked when the alleged major plot change jilted Fa Mulan from her tough and spunky image and made her a damsel in distress waiting for an Englishman to save her. The hashtag #makeMulanright was even trending for a while after the leak of the alleged plot for "Mulan" live-action movie.
As of writing, the online petition urging Disney to stick to the original plot of "Mulan" has more than 111,000 signatures. Hopefully, Disney will listen to the clamor of the fans lest they receive major backlash.
'Mulan' Live-Action Movie: Disney Rejects First Script?
Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek were reportedly the brains behind the alleged leaked script of "Mulan" live-action movie. After trending on the internet and receiving a fair amount of schooling from "Mulan" fans, Disney released a statement regarding the issue saying that it was only a very early version of the story.
Aside from that, Disney cleared the air by assuring the fans that Fa Mulan will still be the protagonist in "Mulan" live-action movie. The main characters will reportedly consist of an all Chinese/Asian cast.
