Video game publishers normally send game copies to gaming journalists before its release for a test out review but it looks like the response of its early release to some social media stars is the other way around.
Eurogamer, a news site has expressed disapproval of Bethesda's early release to popular gamers on some sites like Twitch and YouTube, who might be less fault-finding than the gaming journalists, BBC News reports.
Game journalists said that the publishers should have enough "faith" on their creations upon sending them for and "honest critical analysis" before its official release. Martin Robinson, Eurogamer's reviews editor said, "What publishers do with their code is their prerogative."
"Why should a publisher hand over its most prized asset to us well ahead of the rest of the world and risk us kicking its face off?" he also wrote. However, Bethesda wrote in their blog that they "value" media reviews but wanted both journalists and players to review and experience the game "at the same time".
"Bethesda claims it wants you to get the game the same time as everyone else - at the same time as announcing a pre-order bonus that lets people play a day early," Mr. Robinson also wrote. The new game Skyrim Remastered had been "in the hands of many 'influencers' and has been for some time".
An American video game publisher, Bethesda Softworks LLC was founded by Christopher Weaver in 1986 in Bethesda, Maryland as a division of Media Technology Limited. The company is now based in Rockville, Maryland.
Their highly-anticipated title "Doom" became a commercial success despite the cynical reviews of the quality of the game. Some of the games they have released are Brink (2011), Hunted: The Demon's Forge (2011), Rage (2011), Dishonored series (2012 - present), Wolfenstein series (2014 - present), and The Evil Within (2014).
