The airing of the "Law & Order: SVU" Season 18 episode which was previously revealed to feature a Donald Trump inspired character was moved to a later and post-election day date. Titled "Unstoppable", it will now be aired on November 16 as against its original schedule of October 26. The new air date will be eight days after the U.S. presidential elections.
Emmy-nominated guest star Gary Cole will play the Trump inspired politician in the "Law & Order: SVU" episode. His campaign will go haywire after several women come forward with some damaging accusations according to The Futon Critic. In the promo video for the said episode, the political character can be seen proudly saying that he is handsome, a charming millionaire and has women throwing themselves on him.
The controversial "Law & Order: SVU" Season 18 comes very soon after the release of a 2005 audio recording of the GOP presidential candidate Trump making lewd comments about women with former television host Billy Bush. The controversial recording fueled indignation and various accusations of Trump being a sexist and perpetuating rape culture.
Trump tried to defend himself and hoped to recover lost ground in the second presidential debate by dismissing the comments he was heard saying in the tape as mere "locker room talk". Bush, on the other hand was first suspended from his hosting gig in"The Today Show" on NBC and was later fired. The "Law & Order: SVU" episode was done weeks before the Trump latest controvery but NBC decided to defer its airing just the same. There are even reports that say that the episode underwent some story adjustments.
Deadline reports that viewers may have not seen the last change in the airdate of the controversial "Law & Order: SVU" episode. It is not ruling out the possibility that NBC may choose to air it well after the fiasco had died down should Trump lose since this early, he already said that the coming election is rigged.
