Fans can now mark their calendars with the recently announced "Outlander" Season 3 release date which will be arriving next year. To ease the torture of the long wait, "Outlander" Season 3 cast Sam Heughan dished some spoilers on what fans may expect between his character Jaime and the time-travelling Claire, played by Caitriona Balfe.
'Outlander' Season 3 Will Have A Time Jump
When "Outlander" Season 3 release date comes next year, fans can expect a time jump since the events last season. As such, fans may expect Jaime, the character portrayed by Sam Heughan, to be older as well.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Sam Heughan confirms that he might have to undergo a lengthier makeup time to make Jaime look years older with the arrival of "Outlander" Season 3 release date. Apparently, in previous episode, Heughan's costume sometimes takes just five minutes to prepare as compared to the elaborate costume worn by co-star Caitriona Balfe which takes ages to complete.
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe's Characters Both Think The Other Is Dead
Sam Heughan also confirmed that his character Jaime as well as Caitriona Balfe's Claire will have to endure loneliness when "Outlander" Season 3 air date comes. This is because Claire is now back in her own time, which is set sometime after the Second World War as shown in the previous season. And the worst part is both Claire and Jaime will think that the other is already dead.
Apparently, a considerable portion of "Outlander" Season 3 was filmed without the co-stars seeing each other. According to Sam Heughan, filming without Caitriona Balfe is an experience akin to "having a death in the family." The actor also admits it's hard filming without his co-star as she is not only a good actress, but a great person to work with as well. With this revelation, it's not hard to imagine how those rumors that the two are already dating started.

Finally fans will have a definite "Outlander" Season 3 release date. The third season of the time travel drama series is slated to premiere on April 1, 2017 on Starz.
