It’s been almost two weeks since Apple released the next minor update of iOS – iOS 6.1.3 – in an attempt to effectively kill off the current evasi0n jailbreak.
Apple was successful in doing that, leaving the jailbreak community wondering if a new exploit would arrive to counter the new update. Sadly, it seems like that’s about it for this season’s jailbreak and the jailbreak groups will look ahead to the next major release from Apple – iOS 7.
pod2g of evad3rs has now confirmed that there will be no jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 via Twitter: “we are not working on a 6.1.3 jailbreak, that would be too much effort for a minimal update. We’re waiting for a major release.”
This means that fans will need to wait until this year’s WWDC event (that happens around mid-June) where Apple normally unveils the next major iOS release. Once iOS 7 is official, the jailbreaks will arrive with new exploits aiming to crackdown Apple’s restrictions on the platform. iOS 6.1.3, on the other hand, will remain the way it is.
Also a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 is pointless with just a couple of months to go before the WWDC. Even if anybody comes up with a 6.1.3 jailbreak, Apple will just release the next major iOS version with a patch to it. So there’s really no point working on something that will be need to be changed shortly.
Although a lot of sites around the Web are offering jailbreaking solutions for cash, it is better to see off this remaining bit of time with 6.1.3 until iOS 7 is made official. And when iOS 7 is made official, fans can expect the next big evasi0n jailbreak to land some point inside the second quarter of 2013.
