"The Incredibles 2" release date moves to June 15, 2018, exchanging the launch date of "Toy Story 4", which is reported to move back to June 21, 2019. The announcement was recently made by both Disney and Pixar.
According to reports, the exchange of release dates was due to "The Incredibles 2" director Brad Bird's plan to move fast on the film's completion. Now, the Disney film is scheduled to open in cinemas a week following the release of "Transformers 6" and "Ocean's 8", while a week prior the "Jurassic World 2" release. With that, moviegoers already expect a very stiff competition at the box office.
"The Incredibles 2" recorded a gross earning of more than $633 million worldwide when it opens in 2004, reportedly posting the second biggest animated film opening of all time. Aside from that, the superhero movie also bagged two Oscars trophies, which include the Best Animated Feature. Bird, on the other hand, was nominated for original screenplay. Reports also confirm that Nelson and Holly Hunter will return for their voice characters as Mr. Incredible and his wife, Elastigirl.
Meantime, "Toy Story 4" is reported to release in cinemas a week following an untitled DC film, and a week prior to "Transformers 7" release. Tim Allen will reprise his voice role as Buzz Lightyear, while Tom Hanks returns for his voice character as Woody, Mashable reported.
"The Incredibles 2" has always appeared to be especially ready for a sequel, given its superhero premise, compared to other movies like Pixar's "Finding Dory," "Monsters University" as well as "Cars 2." Reports also indicate that it helps to have a film director like Brad Bird returning to direct the new title. Bird has already won an Oscar for the first Incredibles, and with the new release date, the fans are more than excited to have their super suits ready when the new title finally arrives, Slate reported.
