The Castle Map Pack for “Halo 4” is set for an April 8 release, and is the biggest release from the developers for the game since the arrival of the previous Matchmaking update.
The map pack has a lot to offer. As Major Nelson puts it: “Castle Map Pack brings players three medium-to-large, stunning maps that emphasize vehicular warfare and large battles over open spaces, where team strategy is key to successfully conquering the battlefield.”
Before the final pack arrives, here’s everything you need to know about the maps:
Outcast:
The Outcast is a strong network of rebel facilities that offers a snaking network of vehicle pathways. The map is built for vehicular combat (such as Mantis vs. Wraith battles), and offers a wide open outer ring with a central tunnel system that requires close quarters combat at times.
The game modes on this map include King of the Hill, Team Slayer and Capture the Flag. However, the map will also support a number of game modes within ‘Halo 4.’ Know that controlling vehicle paths is critical in this map, set in a desert environment.
Daybreak:
Daybreak is basically an uneven cluster of research facilities located in the picturesque highlands of the planet Oban. The map has been built with Capture the Flag in mind and features a central top middle control area, alongside outer roadways that surround the bases that lie inside.
The game modes on this map include Capture the Flag, King of the Hill and Team Slayer, although it will also support other Halo 4 game modes.
The map will also show how difficult it is to navigate the map with the Banshee, and only skilled pilots will stand any chance of eliminating the ground troops within Daybreak’s zigzag channels.
Capture the Flag in the Daybreak map could be a bit more challenging than others.
Perdition:
Perdition is an industrial and irregular map that offers a perfect blend of both open and tight spaces while going through the map. It is known for offering many different vehicle routes, with a boatload of ramps, bridges and corridors.
The expected game modes on this map remain the same as that of Daybreak and Outcast, while also supporting other game modes. King of the Hill could be a killer game type in this map.
The Castle Map Pack will cost 800 Microsoft Points and is part of the game's season pass.
