The Facebook Home feature is now out. Founder Mark Zuckerberg made it clear during his presentation at the California company's presentation that the new features are about “building something that’s a whole lot deeper than just an app,” and not only about a new hardware, or new operating systems.
While there are many details that have already been revealed by the company, there are a few questions about some key details.
Here the five unanswered questions about Facebook Home:
Will This Be Battery Consuming?
We understand that the Home will be running in the background where it will download the basic stuff from Facebook when the user is doing something else. So what kind of an impact will it have on the battery of the smartphone?
The battery is most likely under tremendous pressure because it takes power to download photos, updates and news over either cellur or wi-fi. Facebook, for its sake, will hope that’s not the case.
What About Facebook Home On iOS?
Facebook Home, as of now, is only out for Android. There's also a dedicated smartphone in the form of HTC First. But what are the prospects of Home coming to iOS?
In its current format we may not see an iOS-based Facebook Home anytime soon. This is because Apple’s operating system will never allow a third party (like Facebook) to replace its own primary features.
However, let’s not rule out the prospect of a Facebook Home on iOS, if either Apple allows the Home to replace its primary features, or, more likely, Facebook manages to come out with an entirely different version for iOS.
How Secure Is it?
Facebook has a long history of poorly dealing with privacy issues and we'll have to see if those issue hamper Home.
