I had doubts about how “Overkill 2” would turn out. Thankfully I was proven wrong and for a free game it offers a lot of excitement, if not a lot of plot.
"Overkill 2,” is a first-person shooter and that means only one thing – guns. A lot of guns, as many as you can get your hands on.
Craneballs Studios made their customary ironsights and a brand new 3D view (suited for switching through weapon models) available, while also keeping the core gameplay similar to the original “Overkill” – drag your finger all around the screen to aim and use buttons in the bottom right corner for firing, reloading, etc.
Every firearm has been amazingly detailed by the developers. Upgrades improve the gun’s impact. Note that each of these upgrades has its own strengths and weaknesses.
You can make the experience even more special (and a bit easier) with special gears meant for the in-game character’s legs, head and chest. A bit of a shield to protect you from the barrage of bullets flying all around you.
As far as unlocking the good stuff is concerned, you can do that by gunning down the bad dudes and completing levels that add up to the experience and cash that you will need to unlock new guns, levels or better gear.
If you are a pro, you might also unlock the never-ending survival mode for each zone which gives it major replay value.
I do wish the aiming was a little bit better. Frustration starts to creep in when you find that you are wasting bullets because your opponent is barely taking any damage. Headshots can be a bit difficult to score as well.
“Overkill 2” is the best you get without paying a single dime, and any free game that has a massive replay value is always worth downloading.
