Michael Moore is expecting Donald Trump to win the U.S. presidential race in November 2016. The populist filmmaker said that despite several polls showing that the Republican is behind Hillary Clinton in the key states, he will come out victorious in the end.
Salon reported that the filmmaker and author was at a promotional event in Ohio for his new film, "Michael Moore in TrumpLand." He told the audience that Trump will win, largely because the elite are so isolated from regular Americans that they do not realize the damage that has been caused to the middle class in the past years.
Michael Moore said that he knows that several people from Michigan are planning to vote for the Republican, although they do not necessarily agree with him. Michael Moore continued that Trump at least uses language that directly addresses the issues that have affected their lives.
Michael Moore explained that Donald Trump went to the Detroit Economic Club, and in a way, threatened Ford Motor executives. Donald Trump said that if Ford Motor closes the factories in Detroit to build new ones in Mexico, he will slap a 35 percent tariff on the cars that enter the United States and no one will want to buy these.
Michael Moore admired how Trump can be very frank to these businessmen. The filmmaker continued that people will vote for Trump as a message to the media and political elites who have remained aloof despite the woes that average citizens face daily.
Michael Moore said that Trump's election will be the biggest "f--k you" ever recorded in human history, and it will feel good. Trump is the weapon that the middle class can use against the very system that stole their lives from them.
However, Michael Moore has clarified many times that he is not a supporter of Trump, but simply understands why people choose him over Clinton. Donald Trump, Jr. retweeted a copy of Michael Moore's video, adding that he may not agree with Michael Moore on various subjects, but he was right about his statements about his father.
