‘The 100’ Season 4 Release Date, News & Update: Series to Return with More Brutal Plot; Producers Deny Cancellation Rumors

"The 100" Season 4 is still in production but spoilers are already making rounds online. In addition, bits of information about the upcoming season are also being released by the show's production team to tease fans as well to provide some idea of what they can expect from the next installment.

Filming of "The 100" Season 4 is almost finish and the target date of completion is around middle of January 2017. Not long after the filming finally ends, the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama series will be released via CW Network. Episode 1 of Season 4 was revealed to be titled "Echoes" and it will be directed by Dean White.

Show creator Jason Rothenberg shared that unlike most sci-fi dramas, the fourth season of "The 100" will not be about the characters going head to head with the enemies. Rather, it will show a story of how survivors will fight to live in a world that has been totally ravaged by the nuclear war.

Likewise, the focus is what the remaining people do to pull it through and live. "There aren't enough lifeboats, so who gets to choose who lives?" Variety quoted Rothenberg as saying regarding the plot of the drama.

"The 100" Season 4 is set in the future where the world is not habitable anymore, following a nuclear warfare. Those who survived had to live in a space station that is revolving around the earth. However, the place is overcrowded and oxygen is running out fast. 100 people were sent back to earth to conserve energy at the space station and see if the earth's surface is livable.

Finally, while "The 100" Season 4 is yet to premiere on CW Network, some people are speculating that it will be the last season. With the rumors going around about the show's possible cancellation, fans were wondering whether there will still be Season 5.

In response to the rumors, Aaron Ginsburg, co-executive producer of "The 100," took to his social network account to clear the reports. "Seeing as how we're currently MAKING the show, I'm confident that we have, indeed, not been canceled," he tweeted.
