A third party app will be returning soon with FastPokeMap revived. Though its coming may be a bit late with Niantic Labs' stance on the use of apps, some “Pokemon Go” players may still use it knowing the risks involved.
Once caught, Niantic has warned of game bans and account suspensions when found guilty of using third-party programs. There is a chance that some “Pokemon Go” accounts may be reinstated at some point but that is a risk that players are willing to take.
Seeing how “Pokemon Go” has seen a decline in active players, FastPokeMap could in a way bring back the players who turned their back on Niantic, BGR reported. Apparently, the map scanner has become useful mainly because the default nearby tracker on the AR game has been technically useless.
All that could change once Niantic rolls out some tracking improvement on its next update and until that happens, “Pokemon Go” players will continue to turn to third party apps for aid. But is Niantic still as aggressive in meting out game bans seeing how the player counts have been dwindling?
Nothing much has been reported on “Pokemon Go” game bans as of late so there may be a slim chance that Niantic may have softened up a bit. But just the same, there are the terms of service to consider, meaning they can always strictly enforce their rules when needed.
The developers behind FastPokeMap alleges that using the app is safe from legal grounds, assuming there are "Pokemon Go" players who care to bring that up to another level. Game bans may be enforced and technically a means to drive away players – meaning the eventual loser would be Niantic in the end.
The safe route, for now, is to wait on Niantic and see just how well their new version performs. There is a chance that the new version will come with an improved tracker for the benefit of gamers. If not, expect a lot of “Pokemon Go” players resorting to FastPokeMap or other map scanning apps, Pokemon Go Hub reported.
