Avid players of Electronic Arts' popular life simulation game "The Sims 4" have been clamoring for various gameplay enhancements and features including the addition of toddlers and pets. A latest report may have unveiled the gaming company's plans to include a pets-themed expansion in its future DLC releases.
Animal companions for Sim characters were already introduced in previous "The Sims 2" and "The Sims 3" DLC titles. With the game's latest version, speculations have been rife about a potential "The Sims 4 Pets" expansion pack. However, neither Maxis nor The Sims Studio has confirmed or denied its speculated development.
The ongoing voice actors strike may have provided "The Sims 4" gamers with a look at Electronic Arts' future DLC development plans. Recently, the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) published a list that contained video games affected by the strike.
Some of the gaming titles appear to be code names of upcoming games or planned projects. For Electronic Arts, SAG-AFTRA unveiled several titles such as "Fifa 17," Hockey '18" and others. However, one of the listed titles showed "Electronic Arts Productions Pets," according to the fansite Sims Community.
The said listing sparked speculations that the gaming company may have identified a pets-themed expansion pack as one of its upcoming DLCs for "The Sims 4." Some fans may have even speculated that game developers are already on the initial stages of the said DLC's development.
It also matched a Reddit forum response posted by a member of "The Sims" team in early October. In the said forum, game designer SimGuruDaniel gave an interesting answer to a Redditor's question about a potential Pets or Seasons expansion pack for "The Sims 4." SimGuruDaniel teased, "I think so. But what do I know?"
At this time, it is still unclear if a "Pets" expansion pack will be released for the game. Electronic Arts is currently busy with the upcoming release of "The Sims 4 City Living" expansion that will hit gaming markets on Nov. 1. Watch the said DLC's trailer below:
