Insomniac's first multi-platform release in some time, "Fuse," showed up on Twitch Wednesday with a level's worth of footage and commentary from the game's developers. Check it out below.
"Fuse," originally titled "Overstrike" but changed alongside the inclusions of a more serious tone and realistic visual style, encourages highly-cooperative third-person shooting play with its four diversified heroes. Each member of the Overstrike team wields a unique weapon, offering basic offensive and defensive tactical advantage as well as new ways to support your teammates.
Dalton Brooks ,for example, uses the Mag Shield, which doubles as a one-way defensive barrier and a massive shotgun. Check out the rest of the characters at Insomniac's "Fuse" page for details on their specific weapon set and uses. Players can also utilize more traditional, swappable weaponry, and those who enjoy solo play can swap between characters on the go. Each special weapon requires the alien Fuse material to function, hence the title.
The gameplay below shows off the "Triton" story level, wherein the team must escape an underwater facility by first reacquiring their signature weapons and then wreaking all kinds of havoc.
