Microsoft has been alarmingly quiet regarding anything about their next console. However, Kotaku is claiming the controller for the next-gen console will be quite similar to the Xbox 360 version.
The only differences mentioned is that the controller is "a little smaller." Besides that, the controller sports the same button layout and trigger controls as those seen on the Xbox 360.
While it's a bit of a surprise, the lack of changes is understandable. Consider how the PlayStation controller hasn't changed drastically from console to console, only adding in dual shock, analog sticks, motion control, and a touch screen and lightbar since the first PlayStation arrived in 1998. Compare that with the broad amount of changes that Nintendo experimented with for their own consoles.
Apart from the layout, the controller also won't be featuring any new mechanics, like the Wii U's touch screen, or the PlayStation 4's lightbar.
True to their nature, Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny Kotaku's report. It's rumored that Microsoft will finally unveil the fabled console and all the associated details at a special event later this month.
