For those who have read the comic books, Glenn's death in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 was unfortunately expected. But with all the twist and turns that the series have offered the fans, many were still hoping that they will spare Steven Yeun's character. So why was Glenn killed off?
"The Walking Dead" Season 7 Episode 1: Glenn finally loses his life
GamenGuide previously reported the possibility of killing off Glenn in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 episode 1. Unfortunately to all the Glenn fans out there, our previous report came true.
With Glenn being one of the fan's favorite characters, his death in "The Walking Dead" episode 1 totally blindsided everyone. While some already knew that that there's a big chance for Glenn to lose his life, the way that he was killed off was shocking and heartbreaking.
When Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) finally ended his dangerous game of "eenie meenie miney moe" and revealed Abraham as the unfortunate victim, fans were sad for Abe but were also glad that Glenn was safe. But Negan surprised everyone with a double kill and all jaws were dropped when the second victim was Glenn.

"The Walking Dead" Season 7 Episode 1: Glenn's death is a result of proving a point?
Unlike his first alleged death in "The Walking Dead" Season 6 "Thank You" episode, Glenn did not survive this time around. So why was he killed off?
It seems that "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman is trying to prove a point by killing off Glenn. He is showing everyone that they are still grabbing pages from the comic books even if the show has already made major changes in the series.
Just like Negan's famous "The Walking Dead" Season 7 episode 1 line, "no exceptions," the popularity of Steven Yeun's character did not help him at all. With Glenn's shocking death, fans are still trying to recover from the brutal scene.
