Michael Schumacher continues to receive special medical care at his Lake Geneva Mansion as he tries to recover from a skiing accident that happened back in 2013. The medical updates have been minimal to none as the Formula One legend continues to battle back to a normal life.
A cause for concern are the medical bills required to aid Schumacher back to full health. It is believed that the F1 legend has yet to do things independently, needing the aid of private nurses and specialists to get through his ordeal. The word out is that the cost of maintaining his case amounts to roughly $150,000 a week, totaling to about $600,000 a month and $7.2 million annually, Breath Cast reported.
Thankfully, he has amassed more than enough wealth from his years of racing. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Michael Schumacher is estimated to have about $800 million in earnings. Seeing, however, the frequency of his medical bills, not all are convinced that this would be enough until he is able to get up and get his normal life back.
Mixed signals were sent when Michael Schumacher's wife Corinna was reportedly selling personal assets that included a private jet and resort. Earlier this year, Corinna reportedly auctioned off Michael’s old Formula One race car.
Her reason for selling off the said assets was because these were things that Michael Schumacher would never enjoy again. Either way, selling them off was something that led many to believe that the Schumachers’ are experiencing financial woes.
Regardless, the intent of Corinna is to make sure that the medical care needed by “Schumi” remains without worry. With no word on when Michael Schumacher could show signs of positive improvement, it will be interesting if the efforts to cover medical bills will pan out and for how long.
