The rumors are true. Apple is getting into the game controller business.
That's according to pocketgamer.biz, who spoke to developers at the Game Developers Conference taking place in San Francisco. According to the site, Apple will announce its controller at its April event. What it looks like and what the specs are remain unknown. Apparently Apple has been at the conference holding meetings with developers using a fake company name.
While the announcement is coming in April when the hardware will actually be availble for purchase remains unclear. Almost as an afterthought pocketgamer.biz mentions that Google is also getting into the controller business.
Whether this will be a good thing or not remains to be seen. Games on iOS, like the recent "Joe Danger" and "Rayman Jungle Run," are finally starting to be built for touch screen input and having an official Apple controller on the market could harm that promising development.
