‘Star Citizen’ News and Updates: Alpha Version Free to Play Until End of the Month

Developers of the open world space flying sim game, Star Citizen, announces that it will make the game available and playable for a limited period of time. The free mode will provide access to various contents and game mechanics. It also aims to test out the new changes and improvements that Cloud Imperium Games have been doing on the Alpha version.

This is not the first time Star Citizen will be made fully playable, there have been several events in the past as it prepares the game for its official release. There are no recent statements on when the game will be officially up and running. Nevertheless, the free-to-play period will run until Oct. 30, 2016, according to Gamezone, providing an entire week of gameplay for fans of the game.

A lot of things are to be expected, including access to a new aircraft, the F7C-M Super Hornet, as reported by Polygon. In terms of mechanics, Star Citizen will not be identical to its earlier free-to-play version. The game has been experiencing a lot of improvements in the recent months, including how the first person shooter mechanics works and the transition from space to ground.

To play the game, anxious fans would have to make a free account on the Star Citizen official website. Using the promo code FALL2016, registered users will be able to download the installer. However, fans ought to be prepared for its massive size.

Star Citizen has received a lot of criticism and appreciation in the past. It has been declared as a technical marvel. Despite the early praise, developers are finding it hard to fully release the game. Squadron 42, one of the modules of the game, is delayed yet again. As a result, Cloud Imperium Games hasn't released an official release date, though, it is prospected to be around the year 2017.
