Nintendo updated the Wii's "Monster HUnter Tri" last week with the release of "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" on the Wii U. The expected pack of professional reviewers gave it a go, mostly enjoyed it and left it at that. But the Wii U's Miiverse community never stops reviewing the game, and we thought we'd check in to see how it ranks with the masses. While most players commenting about the game in the "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" community already have the game and are therefore more likely to say they enjoy it, a good chunk of the comments revealed a few things the professionals left out. "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" is easier than "Monster Hunter Tri"
Plenty of people who bought "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" have already played the previous installation, and they're finding this version easier than the last. The eShop demo doesn't represent the full game all that well
Nintendo put out a demo for "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" in advance of the game's release, and while players might get a solid preview of the combat mechanics and basic area exploration, the demo does very little to show off the game's essential depth and replay value. It also hurts that there's virtually no tutorial or control-scheme layout in the demo, leaving hopeful beginners more confused than satisfied. The full game, while still a substantial learning-curve, does a much better job handling newcomers.
Online servers may not be the friendliest of places
One should never assume an online game is an appropriate place for youngsters and newcommers, but to hope that a Nintendo title might offer some sort of light-hearted refuge isn't so insane. Unfortunately, "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" is an intense, challenging game where tensions run high in the heat of battle and a weaker player reallly can hurt the hunting party's chances. That's no excuse to berate new players, of course, but it's going to happen anyway. Luckily, plenty of people are actually using the Miiverse to find friendly parties and help for various spots in the game.
It's a total time sink (surprise)
It seems when people aren't hunting they should probably be getting some rest, as it's likely been hours since they looked away from the TV. Some people, on the other hand, can't help but draw about it.
Everyone's got their favorite monsters
The Miiverse is known for its exquisite drawings, and the "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" community is no exception. Some of the best drawings are the result of a player's love for his or her favorite monster. Too bad they have to hunt them down.

One player posted up a comment comparing "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" to "Phantasy Star Online." Nobody agreed with him, but they did offer their own suggestions for comparison.

"Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" is not a racing game, but that didn't matter when a hopeful Wii U owner came into the store looking for "Need for Speed Most Wanted U" and they were out. Luckily, she can trade in the $60 action-RPG for an $18 return. Now there's a deal.
Miiverse Posters Want "Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate" to Be a System Seller
The first real hardcore release since the Wii U launch, "Mosnter Hunter 3 Ultimate" is the next big hope for the Wii U's future.
