Actor Danny Glover has been announced to play Lando Calrissian in the untitled Han Solo Star Wars film coming in 2018. He will be one of the major characters in the upcoming movie. The 33-year-old actor will play his role alongside Alden Ehrenreich as Hans Solo. Together, they will bring life to two of the most important characters in the Star Wars franchise.
Calrissian hidden persona
For Glover's role, it is believed that Calrissian will show how he was able to rise from the underworld. The film will also look into the side of the character which fans did not see before. Coming in 2018, the movie is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Both film geniuses expressed their joy in having Glover as part of the cast.
They claimed they are lucky to be given the opportunity to work with the talented actor. "These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations," Lord and Miller added.
TV personality
Glover's character was formerly played by Billy Dee Williams in the titles "Return of the Jedi" and "The Empire Strikes Back." Fans believe that the actor will do justice on the role as he has done great work as a cast member of NBC's comedy show "Community." He is also part of comedy-drama TV series "Atlanta" and expected to make an appearance in the 2017 movie "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
He also has a huge following which led to a campaign five years ago asking Sony to make him the lead actor in the Spider Man movie. Though he did not get the role, he was tapped to voice the superhero on the animated series "Ultimate Spider Man." Glover is also a musician and was nominated for a Grammy for his album, Childish Gambino.
