With the first season becoming a big hit for Netflix and the "Avengers 3" coming in two years, fans are now trying to ask whether there will be a "Luke Cage" Season 2. The superhero show, which sees Mike Colter reprising his role as the titular character from fellow Netflix show "Marvel's Jessica Jones," has been praised for being a realistic portrayal of African-American culture in a comic adaptation setting.
Netflix is said to be very pleased with the viewership numbers for "Luke Cage" that executives will be meeting next week to decide whether to go ahead with "Luke Cage" Season 2. The release of "Luke Cage" season 2, however, will not be anytime soon as the streaming service will be prioritizing "The Punisher," "The Iron Fist" and the crossover miniseries "The Defenders."
Fans might not have to wait for "Luke Cage" Season 2 to see Mike Colter in action again though. The Defenders (Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Jessica Jones) are rumored to be involved in "Avengers 3," /FILM reported. Netflix was reported to have given the blessing for the cast to appear in "Avengers 3." They were even willing to let Mike Colter to not appear in "The Defenders" just to make a cohesive story for "Avengers 3."
These "Luke Cage" Season 2 news comes a few days after it was announced via the Entertainment Weekly that Jessica Jones and Luke Cage will be teaming up with each in the video game Marvel Heroes. Marvel Heroes will go on sale next year.
You can watch the first season of "Luke Cage" on Netflix as the movie premiered in the streaming platform last September 30.
