Sony announced a number of new PlayStation games during a media presentation at the 2013 Game Developers Conference. Directing its focus on to its relationships with indie developers, Sony says the free-to-play PC shooter 'Blacklight: Retribution' and episodic adventure 'Primal Carnage: Genesis' are coming to the PlayStation 4.
Zombie Studios 'Blacklight: Retribution' is a first-person shooter game and is the first game from Sony's Pub Fund for PS4. The game was originally launched in April 2012 for PCs. The developer looks to bring a new experience and further evolution of the shooter to PS4.
'Primal Carnage' is an Unreal Engine 4-fueled dinosaur game from Lukewarm Media. It's a single-player game featuring a mix of open-world exploration and linear game play from a first-person human perspective. It offers a story-driven experience and will be released in a "Walking Dead"-style episodic format.
"These games will join Jonathan Blow's highly anticipated exploration-puzzler, 'The Witness,' as self-published titles making their console debut on the PS4 system. In addition to supporting 'Blacklight: Retribution,' the PlayStation Pub Fund, which provides back-end financial and marketing support to developers, adds fighting game 'Divekick' and infographic adventure 'Metrico,' which is a PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) exclusive," Sony says in a statement.
Sony says that it has enhanced the services available to third-party publishers and independent developers with a new streamlined and faster Global Product Proposal process for submitting games. "This recent influx in developer support for PlayStation has come through our continued effort to create a flexible and developer friendly environment. We're also focusing on burgeoning platforms like PlayStation Mobile by offering Unity support, coming later this year, to make it easier than ever for developers to bring their games to PlayStation-certified Android devices and PS Vita," Adam Boyes, vice president of publisher and developer relations, Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) says.
