"Jessica Jones'" pilot season ended in a satisfying way when she ended the life of her archnemesis, Kilgrave (Davide Tennant). The story, however, doesn't end there and Jessica (Krysten Ritter) will continue to feel wounded and that her trauma in the past will be a huge part of "Jessica Jones" Season 2.
Speaking to Esquire, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg compared Jessica's healing to "Dexter," one of the series she produced. "I learned from working on Dexter that you can advance the character, but you never want to cure the character," Rosenberg told the publication. She also explained that although Jessica may have killed Kilgrave in the first season of "Jessica Jones," she won't feel completely okay because the trauma will continue to haunt her. With Kilgrave gone, it's hard to imagine who will "Jessica Jones" Season 2 compelling villain will be.
Rosenberg already hinted in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly that the superheroine could face multiple villains in "Jessica Jones" Season 2. Rosenberg knows very well that Tennant's was just superb and it would be difficult to surpass that. New and unique villain or villains should bring a more interesting take to the second season but Rosenberg doesn't want to reveal who this or they will be to avoid spoiling a big surprise.
Meanwhile, Jessica Jones' relationship with her adopted sister, Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) is also expected to deepen. Some fans are even hoping that the closeness between the two will turn into something romantic in "Jessica Jones" Season 2, and Rosenberg is even open to the idea. The EP also confirmed that Jessica and Trish's relationship will be a big part of the second season.
As of the moment, plot details for "Jessica Jones" Season 2 have been kept under wraps. It's still a long wait for new episodes as the show is slated to premiere sometime after "The Defenders," which likely puts it in the 2018 window.
