Rumors about the reboot of the classic sci-fi RPG game "Sci Control" which is developed by Stardock could be traced back in 2014. Just recently, the developers of the game confirmed the recreation of "Star Control" entitled "Star Control: Origins" and it is expected to be released in 2017.
The game is said to take place in the year 2086 long before the setting of the original game. You will play as the captain of the first interstellar starship created in Earth. You are assigned to explore the galaxy, meet with various alien races, travel to different planets and worlds and engage in multiple space battles.
A distress signal from an alien ship that crash landed on the moon of Triton was detected and Star Contol, an international space agency which dedicates itself to protect the Earth, was established and assigned with a mission to investigate.
"We Earthlings are the newcomers to the galactic scene," the executive producer, Brad Wardell said in a forum post. Different kinds of space-faring species are trying to hatch their schemes even before they got out from trees. He also added that the meddling apes from "Sol 3" need to be dealt with because they are threatening them to upset the plot.
Star Control is about us humans who are trying to explore the vast and unknown universe by traveling to different galaxies and planets and try to make contact with aliens. The studio that created Star Control said that the game "takes place in a living galaxy filled with thousands of unique worlds, many of which are teeming with alien life."
PC Gamer stated that the essential parts of the gameplay in the original trilogy is the exploration and interaction with different alien races and in "Star Control: Origins", players are now able to land on planets and run around to collect resources, access new quests and discover artifacts and ship parts.
