UPDATE: Here's some footage from the game.
Capcom and Disney are teaming to bring back a game the collective gaming masses just won't let them forget. "Duck Tales: Remastered" is coming to the Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and Wii U eShop this summer. Updated visuals and that unforgettable theme song are on display on the game's release trailer, which you can check out below.
Capcom recruited WayForward for the game's development, the studio behind the eShop series "Mighty Switch Force" and one of the DS's last great titles, "Aliens: Infestation."
Originally released on Nintendo's NES console back in 1989, the original "Duck Tales," based on the animated TV show of the same name, emerged from cult status to absolute classic over the years. "Gears of War" creator Cliff Bleszinski refers to it as a major inspiration for his game development career. He even gets a quote in the "Duck Tales: Remastered" reveal trailer:
"The game taught me everything about a genre that launched my career," he's quoted as saying. His first big hit was Epic's "Jazz Jackrabbit" released on PC in 1994.
The "Duck Tales: Remastered" release window remains a vague "summer" for the various console download services, and Capcom did not mention true port of the game, NES visuals and all, which would fit nicely among fellow classics in the Wii U's Virtual Console.
