Fans will still need to wait more than two years before "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" finally hits theaters, but it looks like there could be major changes by the time the sequel is ready. There have already been rumors that Dylan O'Brien will be asking for some tweaks on his character's storyline to avoid more injuries on the film's set.
But is it possible that Thomas will no longer be the main protagonist in "Maze Runner 3"? Will the "Teen Wolf" Season 6 star take a supporting role as Ki Hong Lee's Minho and Thomas Brodie-Sangster's Newt lead the fight against WICKD?
Dylan O'Brien Demanding Changes In 'Maze Runner 3' Storyline, 'Teen Wolf' Season 6 Star Refusing To Do Action Scenes?
GamenGuide previously reported on speculations that Dylan O'Brien will do less action scenes in "Maze Runner 3" after his March accident on the set. If the rumors are true, this would mean that the sequel might not stay true to James Dashner's novel "The Death Cure".
Some fans are wondering if this would mean O'Brien's Thomas will be staying out of the action, giving the supporting characters to shine in the Wes Ball film. Will Minho and Newt become the new lead characters when the movie premieres on January 12, 2018?
'Maze Runner 3' Could Still Have More Action Scenes For Dylan O'Brien
It might seem like a good idea for Dylan O'Brien to avoid too many action sequences so he wouldn't suffer more possible injuries on "Maze Runner 3". However, GamenGuide reported that the "Teen Wolf" Season 6 star is already working on "American Assassin", which also requires plenty of stuntwork.
It seems highly unlikely that O'Brien will shy away from vigorous scenes once he starts filming "The Death Cure". There is a huge possibility that it will be Thomas who will lead Minho, Newt and the other Gladers in their fight against WICKD.
Do you think Thomas will step down to let Minho and Newt become the main characters in "Maze Runner 3"? Will Dylan O'Brien continue shooting the dangerous action sequences in the film? Let us know in the comments below.
