Bethesda Game Studios' “The Elder Scrolls” franchise has easily been one of the top gaming titles since its initial release in 1994. The next version will shift the action to online.
Zenimax Online Studios and Bethesda revealed some new screenshots for their upcoming MMO based off of the "Elder Scrolls" universe, alongside details about the story and shedding more light on the characters and character customization.
"The Elder Scrolls Online" will take place within Tamriel while shifting the focus to action based gameplay and organic character builds rather than just numbers and grinding.
The overall quest system, at this early stage, relies on more story-based structures with some occasional side-quests to guide the player rather than just pursuing quests and killing anything or anybody that comes in between.
The player will be able to specialize in dozens of planned skill trees that include sorcery, sword wielding. The story is about times haveing gone dark and armies of revenants and dark spirits manifesting in every corner of Tamriel.
However, in the midst of all this chaos, three alliances vie for control of the Imperial City and the White-Gold Tower. While High Rock, Sentinel, and Orsinium stand as one, united under the rule of the High King in Wayrest, Valenwood and Elsweyr have already forged an alliance of their own with Summerset. Meanwhile, Black Marsh, Morrowind, and Skyrim have formed a third pact.
“Featuring three-sided Player vs. Player (PvP) gameplay, 'The Elder Scrolls Online' supports hundreds of players on screen at once in an open world fight for control of Cyrodiil. Seize, hold, and control the resources of massive strongholds. Utilize massive siege weapons to crumble fortress walls and smash through fortified gates,” the official page states. “Conquer the Imperial City, and your alliance’s top player could even be crowned Emperor!”
‘The Elder Scrolls Online’ is set to arrive later this year for PC and Mac.
