The true identity of Black Goku in "Dragon Ball Super" was revealed as Zamasu and he has taken over the body of Son Goku. Trunks promised to protect the world together with the pack.
Zamasu left his own body and replaced it with Son Goku. While Trunks and the group decided to go back to the future as planned to defeat the Black Goku. Christian Post relayed that "Dragon Ball Super" will lose Son Goku as the main protagonist of the series. He will be replaced with Trunks to fight against the enemy Zamasu.
"Dragon Ball Super" episode 62 tells about Trunks as the main hero accusing Black Goku and Zamasu as the main characters that caused all the conflicts. Vegeta will also be featured on this episode which can add to the group's enemy as he is known to be wise and an expert in implementing strategies.

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco announced that the characters from "Dragon Ball Super" namely Frost and Kayabe are included as playable characters in the first downloadable pack as per Gematsu. As for the anime segment, Trunks will be left to fight against the villains while the rest of the group tried to figure out on how to defeat them. As the battle started Trunks was transformed into something new as part of the Super Saiyan which made him the first character in "Dragon Ball Super" to change in that form.
