Leaks for the heavily rumored Xbox 720 console from Microsoft are back in the news.
The lastest info seem pretty legit with some leaked XDK documentation that reveals the device’s hardware capabilities and also its architecture.
The architecture, as the leaks suggests, will be x64 (similar to the one in the new PlayStation 4), and the console will be designed to make development easier on the system. Moreover, it should be a good thing since the PS4 has also been designed with the same thing in mind.
“As part of a Durango hardware overview, the leaked documentation states that every next-gen console will include a hard drive with enough capacity to ‘hold a large number of games.’ All games are said to be installable to the drive, and ‘play from the optical drive will not be supported’,” The Verge writes.
The information revealed via VGLeaks also has a few screenshots posted on the website, and although they are a bit hazy, one of them actually shed light on the console a bit more than the others. They also reveal information about the Move engines which can perform common game tasks like compression and decompression, while moving data around the system at the same time.
Also there is state where energy consumption is quite low compared to the usual consumption and the state allows doing that whenever the console needs to. However, the leak also suggests that the device will always need an internet connection.
“We understand that the information shared by Vgleaks is genuine, but it's also dated from last year. The real question isn't whether Microsoft has considered an anti-used games system, but if the leaks we're seeing are old enough for the company to have dropped the implementation in the mean time,” the report adds.
