The Behemoth, in moving on from their flash-based "Alien Hominid" and creating the Xbox Live Arcade smash hit "Castle Crashers," found the anticipation for their next title so disgustingly overwhelming that it actually took them about three, maybe four years to make. But gamers won't have to wait much longer, because "Battleblock Theater" is coming exclusively to Xbox Live Arcade on April 3 for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), The Behemoth says on their developer blog.
That's two weeks away. "Battleblock Theater" is a highly co-operative platformer where players are dragged off to "some gladatorial, er, prisoney, uh, coliseum place," as described by the game's insane narrator in the prologue, to complete levels for the sake of survival. Griefing your co-op partners is highly encouraged, as is creating and sharing your own levels within the game.
Players can customize their experience by choosing from a wide range of "prisoners" to use as their avatar. The visual style is as zany and charming as The Behemoth has ever been.
