Bandai Namco recently announced that they will host a closed alpha test for "Gundam Versus" for PlayStation 4 from November 26 to 27, 2016. The "Gundam Versus" alpha test will happen at their development studio in Japan, instead of online.
Siliconera reported that interested "Gundam Versus" fans can try to participate by sending their applications beginning on October 18. The new "Gundam Versus" game is being created exclusively for the console, compared to previous titles that were only made for the arcade.
The closed alpha play will initially be offered to players in Japan, with the official date yet to be specified. Bandai Namco did not provide a lot of details about the "Gundam Versus" alpha test, but is expected to make more announcements soon.
Previously, Bandai Namco featured a teaser video for "Gundam Versus." The footage showed gameplay videos of the game through the years and how much the graphics have improved.
The upcoming "Gundam Versus" apparently is the most visually stunning yet. A few Gundam characters were shown, as well as their fighting abilities, which looked very good.
The "Gundam Versus" storyline has yet to be presented by the game developer. It is also uncertain whether the game will subsequently release on Xbox One or PC as well.
Mobile & Apps stated that "Gundam Versus" will feature the same classic arcade version, although with enhanced graphics. The theme may be the same as in previous installments like "Gundam Barbados" and "GundamExia."
There will be duels, as seen in the teaser video, and probably a campaign. According to general manager Yusuke Sasaki, "Gundam Versus" will be available outside of Japan with a worldwide release. In the meantime, Bandai Namco is keen on creating the best version of the game yet to appeal to Western gamers and acquire a bigger share of the market in the long term.
"Gundam Versus" is set to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the series. The first game, "Gundam DX" launched in 2001, while the most recent version, "Extreme V5 Force," launched in 2015.
If the alpha test is successful, "Gundam Versus" will most likely release sometime in 2017. More updates and details are expected soon.
