It's been 12 years since fans of "The Incredibles" last saw the Parr family in action, but they will see the family of superheroes back together saving the world soon. "The Incredibles 2" is slated to release in 2018 and rumor has it that the story will continue from where it left off.
Official plot details of "The Incredibles 2" have not been revealed. Director Brad Bird has kept details of the story under wraps and has done so for quite some time now. In a recent interview with Collider, though, Bird said that the scriptwriting process has started. While Bird managed to be silent about the details, he did hint what the next movie's theme could be.
According to Bird, there have been several superhero movies since 2004, the year when "The Incredibles" came out. It's hard to compete with the hundreds of superhero films of today, which is why Bird intends to make "The Incredibles 2" focus on what the original movie was about. "What you don't want to do is trot over the same turf in the same way everyone else is. So we're trying to keep it focused in the area that our film was, which was a little bit more about characters and relationships and stuff like that," the director told Collider.
Meanwhile, predictions as to what will happen in "The Incredibles 2" continue to make the rounds. For a while now, it is rumored that Jack-Jack will be the new villain. The infant should be a grown-up by the time the movie returns to the big screen and it was said that he will be too overwhelmed by his powers that he decided to use it for evil purposes. In other reports, it is speculated that Mr. Incredible's sidekick, Frozone, will be the villain. Rumor has it that he will grow tired of playing the role of second best and would want to surpass Mr. Incredible.
As of the moment, the plot for "The Incredibles 2" is purely based on speculations. Given that the team has already started the scriptwriting process and the movie is likely to release in 2018, it shouldn't be long before fans will hear more substantial updates about the movie.
