So later today Samsung is coming out on the big New York stage to show off its next flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S4. Samsung is feeling confident with buzz building for the S4 to an almost Apple level of fervor and I just couldn't care less.
Why? Because I like video games, and video gaming on Android just sucks. It's awful, and Google is doing absolutely nothing about it. They don't care about video games as much as I don't care about their phones. That's not a coincidence, and as much as I loathe Apple's slow-crawl evolution in technology, and the influence that has on the rest of the industry, their phones are the only place I'm guaranteed to get the best mobile games.
But this is common knowledg. Here are a couple more reasons I just couldn't care less about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S4 announcement:
- It's going to be a minor upgrade over the S3, nothing more, with the exception of a nifty eye-tracking feature.
- That nifty eye-tracking feature means the phone is watching me while I'm watching it, and that makes me nervous.
- I already have a phone, it's pretty nifty.
- The S4 will be an incremental step above the iPhone 5, so the iPhone 5S will be an incremental step above the S4.
- Gee, I wonder whether the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be an incremental step over the iPhone 5S.
- Watching Samsung officials talk about how awesome their new device is sounds like the worst way to spend any part of my day.
And with that, I'm off to make a sandwich and watch some of AMC's "The Walking Dead." Anybody else in?
