"Star Wars" fans join forces to ask for the making of the franchise's original series, "Star Wars: The Old Republic," on TV. In fact, they even created a fan-made teaser of the show and started an online petition for Netflix to hear their cries.
"Star Wars" avid followers started an online petition on Change.org to create a television web series, "Star Wars: The Old Republic." The appeal now has 69,374 supporters, but still lacking 5,626 signatures to complete the 75,000 needed. With that big figures, it looks like a lot of viewers want to witness "Star Wars: The Old Republic" on TV.
It has been said that Netflix has the best ability to bring "Star Wars: The Old Republic" on the said original era. The petitioners claimed that the streaming service can give justice to the show by setting it to "Knights of the Old Republic" and "Star Wars: The Old Republic," Slashfilm reported. "Why Netflix was chosen was because of the wealth of great content they have produced over the years, such as 'Narcos,' 'House of Cards,' and especially everything that Marvel has done and is still currently working on," the petition reads.
Meanwhile, Dark Horizons reported that a video uploaded on Youtube by the name swtheoldrepublic gave a glimpse of the potential "Star Wars: The Old Republic" story. Titled "STAR WARS: The Old Republic - Knights of the Eternal Throne - 'Betrayed' Trailer," it showed other possible narratives that can be made outside the Skywalker series.
"The Knights of the Republic" game saga and the MMORPG "Star Wars: The Old Republic" are both set 3,000 years ago before "Star Wars" happened. Hence, fans are asking Netflix to create "Star Wars: The Old Republic" like how it made the Marvel series with a touch of dark theme for matured viewers compared to Disney's take.
