The favorite Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara, "Sword Art Online," will now hit the small screens as it will soon have a live-action TV series. Skydance Media is going to adapt a new version of the anime as the company now acquired its television rights.
"Sword Art Online" will be produced in collaboration with Skydance Media and Kadokawa Corporation. The show's pilot episode might be written by the "Terminator Genisys" writer Laeta Kalogridis.
"Sword Art Online" will focus on the life of the skillful beta tester along with his group of friends. The team along with some 10,000 people will be trapped in an online virtual reality role-playing game, where they have to face monsters, magic, mystery and sword fights that will put their lives at risk.
"I am excited and moved that 'Sword Art Online' will be adapted into a live action series by the highly respected Skydance Media," Reki Kawahara told Variety.
