Ish Smith, the new point guard of Detroit Pistons, is not upset at all that the Sixers did not keep him even when he would have wanted to go back. Amidst NBA's trading season, the Piston made an early offer for a three-year contract worth $18 million. Smith gladly accepted the offer.
In an interview, Ish Smith said that everything is perfect and he is happy with his decision. He mentioned his love for Detroit and the fans. Pistons fans would love to note that Smith has every intention of making his team win in the NBA playoffs.
Last year, Ish Smith signed a contract with the Sixers after getting to a 1-30 start. In a short while, he became a strong man in the eyes of the NBA fans. The 28-year-old player was second on his team in terms of offense with 14.7 points per game. Smith was also the main facilitator with seven assists per game. No wonder Detroit Pistons wanted to have him on their roster.
Brett Brown, the Sixers coach, said that Ish Smith gave them hope when they were losing. Brown is happy that the Sixers became an instrument for the NBA to notice Smith's ability. According to Brown, Smith has a charisma that makes him a wonderful teammate. Would Stan Van Gundy and Tim Hardaway feel the same way about Ish Smith?
Meanwhile, Detroit Piston's assistant coach Tim Hardaway will miss the first three games with Ish Smith as the former was suspended due to drink driving. According to NBA website, Hardaway pleaded guilty to the law of the Michigan state.
Tim Hardaway's suspension came just a month after he was charged with the same case. The ESPN reports that Hardaway was sentenced to probation for 18 months and community service for 10 days. The five-time All-Star NBA player was hired by Detroit Pistons as the assistant coach in 2014.
