It looks like Apple's iPhone 7 will not be the only phone in the market that won't have the 3.5mm headphone jack. It turns out that HTC has plans to do the same for its upcoming new phone, the HTC Bolt. It seems like the headphone jack has a new opponent to fight.
Known gadget leaker Evan Blass has released new images of the as-yet unannounced HTC Bolt on his official Twitter account. Much like the design of the iPhone 7, the HTC Bolt features only a USB Type-C port on the bottom of the phone, like its Apple counterpart's lone Lightning port. Although the HTC Bolt will have HTC's BoomSound audio enhancer, which is only enabled when you listen to music through earphones, it remains unsure as to what kind of earphones and headphones it can hook up. Also, it is not yet known whether the phone will ship with a pair of USB Type-C earphones or even an adapter.

According to VentureBeat, which had the exclusive drop on the HTC Bolt from Blass itself, the phone (known internally in the company as the Acadia) also features a 5.5-inch FHD display. It is also equipped with an 18MP rear camera with a f/2.0 lens that can shoot 4K video and an 8MP front camera. There's also 3 GB of RAM, 64 GB internal storage, and expandable memory through microSD cards. It, too, is most likely be running on Android 7.0 Nougat.
Because HTC hasn't really officially announced the existence of the HTC Bolt yet, it's still unsure as to when exactly the phone is expected to drop. It could probably still make it by the holiday season, but it's most likely releasing in the first half of 2018. By then, it will be available worldwide, but how it will do in the market without the traditional headphone jack will be an interesting case to observe. Evidently, HTC doesn't have the same name and brand recognition as Apple and the iPhone have.
