Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date, News & Update: Dual-camera Setup in 5.5-inch Variant to Differentiate Handset from Competition

Samsung is reportedly working hard and focusing exclusively on the Galaxy S8 smartphone, which is good news for the Korean tech giant especially after the Galaxy Note 7 battery fiasco. If reports are to be believed, the company is working on two variants of the Samsung Galaxy S8.

One of the two variants would sport a 5.1-inch display with a 2K screen whereas the other one, the premium offering, would have a 5.5-inch display and a 4K screen. The latest leaks suggest that the Galaxy S8 may come with Viv's AI assistant, writes Cnet.

As per Sam Mobile, Viv's AI assistant may replace Samsung's S Voice in the Galaxy S8 smartphone. This means there will be yet another massive hype surrounding this change in feature as it will yet again pave way for a fresh round of updates, improvements and features.

Samsung is reportedly looking to take on Apple iPhone 8 by differentiating the Galaxy S8 using a dual-camera setup on the back side of the 5.5-inch variant. This setup hasn't been considered by any smartphone maker up to now.

Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to bring Virtual Reality support to its fans and therefore the company could be using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipset and an upgraded RAM to handle the top-specs and features. Fans have already started discussing about the phone and will lap up every opportunity to get their hands on the device the moment it hits shelves.

It was a nightmare for Samsung when units of the Galaxy Note 7 started catching fire and exploding due to no known reason. Hence, it makes sense for Samsung to come up with a highly-advanced device such as Galaxy S8 that can help in offsetting the losses suffered as a result of the Note 7 shutdown.

Apple and Samsung are the leading smartphone brands and the companies sell mobile units way more than any other mobile brand. Naturally, the companies have a massive fan following a loyal customer base. Thus, even after the Galaxy Note 7 recall, Samsung may not find it difficult to sell Galaxy S8 if the specs and features are out-of-the-blue.
