"The Blacklist" executive producer Jon Bokenkamp recently shared some details about the fate of Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert) after her previous ordeals. Bokenkamp also provided some information about a coming conflict between Liz (Megan Boone) and Tom (Ryan Eggold) in "The Blacklist."
TV Guide stated that previously in "The Blacklist," Mr. Kaplan was shot in the face by Red (James Spader) for betraying him. She managed to survive, but was not entirely safe. She was last seen being dragged through the woods by a mysterious man. Bokenkamp said that being taken by the man could either be good or bad for her. The person who seemingly rescued Mr. Kaplan will offer a different kind of experience.
Bokenkamp teased that the outcome will not be fully answered in the next couple of episodes of "The Blacklist." It is somewhat a slow burn story to introduce the strange rescuer. CarterMatt reported that as far as Red is concerned, he already killed Mr. Kaplan.
Her survival means that "The Blacklist" Season 4 will feature a parallel story between the lives of Red and Liz, and Tom and Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and the task force. Meanwhile on "The Blacklist," they are merely telling a short story about Mr. Kaplan, with no connection to Red, Liz, Agnes or Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen). She will be dealing with a new kind of challenge in the woods on her own in "The Blacklist."
Bokenkamp also said that Mr. Kaplan and Red will not be meeting anytime soon in "The Blacklist." She is currently focused on just surviving at the moment. After being shot in the face, Mr. Kaplan is in a desperate situation with a complete stranger. Red will not immediately reveal to Liz that he shot Mr. Kaplan, but she will most likely find out eventually.
Meanwhile in "The Blacklist," there will be a real conflict between Tom and Liz as they continue to try and get baby Agnes back, as well as struggle in their new environment. Tom plans to act, while Liz wants to strategize further, which will spell trouble for both of them. "The Blacklist" Season 4 airs on Thursdays on NBC.
