'PS4 Will Out-Power Most PCs For Years To Come'

Worried that the next generation of consoles won't be able to keep up with the evolution of high-end gaming PCs? According to Avalanche Studios CTO Linus Blomberg, you can breathe easy.

Speaking with GamingBolt, Blomberg says he's enthusastic about the specs and features the PS4 has to offer. He said current generation of consoles have fallen into an unfortunate middle ground. Caught between top-of-the-line hardware, which provides the best gaming experience, and mobile platforms that provide quick-fix gaming in a more accessible framework, consoles haven't been able to put their best face forward in some time.

"The consoles desperately need a boost since having been overtaken in terms of performance by PC's several years ago, and also losing market share to mobile platforms," he says.

According to Blomberg, the PS4 will do wonders for "the type of games we do." Avalanche is best-known for the frantic open-world action series "Just Cause." The studio is currently working on three projects including a game the studio has teased, which many expect will turn out to be "Just Cause 3" for next-gen platforms:

"The PS4 will not only be a very powerful gaming machine from a hardware perspective, but it will also be a social tool and integrated marketplace more akin to the successful mobile devices. It's the best of all worlds in a way; great performance for demanding high-end gaming, good social ecosystem and connectivity, and integrated business marketplace."

Specifically pointing to the console's 8GB of ram, Blomberg says the PS4 hardware will keep pace with high-end game development for a long time before Sony has to worry about the platform suffering the same fate: "I'm glad Sony decided to go with 8gb RAM because it means that the PS4 will out-power most PC's for years to come."
